I just acquired a large collection of these wonderful covers. Look for many more great items in our auctions and in the store in the coming months.
These fascinating unused Civil War Patriotic Covers from the Civil War have increased in value and popularity tremendously in the last few years, in part due to the publication of The Catalog of Civil War Patriotic Covers by William R Weiss noted postal history dealer, auctioneer and expert. This beautiful, large catalog is available from my eBay store at $110 + $5 shipping.
There is a VALUE GUIDE separate from the book for UNUSED covers. This was done in 1997 and was quite conservative at the time. In my experience and from discussions with Bill Weiss - in the last 10 years the values have moved up considerably. Covers that in 1997 might sell for $50, now will sell for $100 or $200 - depending on the subject and condition. The table below reflects the prices that Bill would place on these about 10 years later.
Mid 2009 update - due to the increased popularity of these covers many of them have also moved up a grade or more.

F - $100 to 200
G - $200 to maybe $500

New Terms (Oct 2009) - the small print.
All items are guaranteed as described. If you find a misdescribed item you amy return it for a full refund including shipping. We do the best we can, but mistakes happen occassionally. Please email or call to tell us before returning an item. Our phone number is on every invoice.
I now carry private insurance on all shipments over $100 in the USA. Cost of shipping is $4.00 for the entire shipment and includes Certified Mail and insurance from Lloyds of London. If your shipment comes to over $100 and your shipping comes to less then $4 - please add the difference for insured Certified Mail shipping.
Shipments outside the USA will be charged standard fees shown plus any registered or other fees the buyer wants. Certified mail to most countries is about $11.
Large lots are not returnable unless. I try very hard to describe my lots accurately, please email before you bid if you have any questions.
Policy on certificates
Notice for that lots are being submitted for a certificate must be made and a copy of the request for certification must be mailed or emailed within 7 days. If the stamp is found to be bad I will refund both the cost of the stamp and the certificate. However, to avoid ridiculous situations, no items under $20 final bid price may be put on extension. No refunds will be made after 120 days unless a further extension is requested before the end of the 120 days. We accept APS, Foundation, PSE and Weiss certificates. No graded certificates accepted and encased stamps may not be returned under any circumstances. A certificate of no opinion is not grounds for returning a stamp.
