A truly superb example of classic Modernist Murano Glass. The sense of vitality and brute power is captured exquisitely in this solid glass figure. A smokey glass is encased within a clear glass casing expertly aligned with the outline of the animals back- as shown. Finer details such as the horns feet etc are effortlessly achieved.

Telling the difference between authentic and modern hand made glass (easy in this instance!) is a necessary skill- particularly when offering vintage items up against the tidal wave of cheaply made modern examples sold on eBay as ‘Murano style’, and actually made in Mexico or China. Aside from the differences in quality of production, the differences are sometimes less tangible, but include the weight of the piece, the ‘feel’ of the glass- the quality smaller details and finish etc. This is one such piece of which I have no doubt as to its vintage and of its origins. No makers marks- ca 1950-60 Perfect condition, no chipping nor cracks.
