Kishorilal was called up by his country to do national service. He partook in a rigourous training programme that was a true test of his heart, body, mind and soul. Fighting off his cowardly hopes of quitting so as to avoid the ordeal, he was finally made battle ready. He became a spy and was sent behind enemy lines. Slipping into enemy territory, his espionage attempts met with complete success, and he was commended highly for his bravery. However, luck soon turned against him, as during his third mission he was seized by the enemy camp and imprisoned. He was subjected to brutal torture and came close to death on more than one occasion.
