PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE/ INFORMATION
What is PERCALE?
The term 'Percale' means that the sheet is a fine weave that produces a relatively fine and strong fabric for sheets. Sheets that are termed ‘percale’ are usually a higher thread count than 220 threads per 10 sq cm (or 180 threads per square inch) Packaging should generally show the thread count you are purchasing. The higher the threads count the more durable and strong the cotton sheets will be. Often lower thread count sheets such as sheets that are called Muslin sheets may be subjected to pilling of the cotton later. This does not happen with higher quality sheet sets.
Poly cotton Percale –is where there is a polyester/cotton mix of synthetic and natural fibres, with the two fibres there is a smooth touch and is easy to launder. The higher the threads count the softer and more durable the sheet will be. COTTON SATEEN – has a luxurious feel and is made from 100% quality cotton. This fabric has a luxury look and sheen with a luxurious silky finish that is smooth against your body.
How do you tell the difference between a good quality sheet and others?
The look of a sheet is of course important. The thread count of a sheet is an easy way of working out the quality and value of a sheet. The higher the thread count is, the softer the fabric.
A higher thread count in a sheet uses finer yarns that are woven tightly to ensure a soft, fine material that retains its stability and strength. In modern times there is a popular use of Egyptian cotton
The cotton is a longer stronger yarn; sheets made from Egyptian cotton are generally softer and will tend to last for years to come.
What is THREAD COUNT?
The thread count of a sheet tells us the density of the weave and measures the number of horizontal (Across) and vertical (Down) threads in one square inch of fabric.
The higher the thread counts the more threads of cotton that have been used. The weave is tighter, which makes the fabric softer and more luxurious.
