The Ferrari Hydroplane model speedboat sits perfectly on the included base, which is made of a high-quality, conditioned wood. The Ferrari Hydroplane Speedboat model is built from scratch by experienced master artisans and is not from any sort of kit. To create the subtle details and definitions of the deck and hull, the plank on frame method of construction is used, which requires hundreds of hours of pain-staking, detailed work. The highest quality, rare woods (including Ebony, Rosewood, Blackwood, Mahogany, Jack wood, and Sycamore) used to construct our models are subjected to specific seasoning procedures to ensure that the model will withstand severe climate and never warp or split. The quality mahogany and fine cherry wood are of the highest caliber and generally used for real boats is used on this Ferrari Hydroplane models. Our Ferrari Hydroplane speed boats are highly polished to a glossy smoothness along with meticulous details that match the perfection of the real thing. Numerous layers of paint and varnish are painstakingly applied, with each layer dried and smoothed through sanding before application of the next. Details such as fittings, trimmings, steering wheels, and propellers are made sculpted brass or stainless steel. These metal pieces are then polished for perfect gold and metallic tones. The Ferrari Hydroplane Speed boat's dashboard is complete with a realistic metal steering wheel, switches, and gauges, all made from polished metals. Plush Seats are hand-stitched and genuine leather. Extensive research is required to build each Ferrari Hydroplane model according to scale, using various pictures, original plans, drawings, and digital imaging. Each Ferrari Hydroplane model ship is examined during various processes of manufacturing and shipment to ensure the highest quality and accuracy possible for your investment.
This model boat is made with plank on frame construction. This is the painstaking process where each strip of wood is applied to the hull one at a time.
The 1953 Ferrari Hydroplane was built for Achille Castoldi (a wealthy boat privateer) by Cantieri Timossi a hydroplane builder on Lake Como, near Milan. The engine supplied by Ferrari was a type 375 V12 Grand Prix engine developing 385 BHP. In January 1953 Castoldi drove the Hydroplane dubbed "Arno XI" to an unofficial top speed of over 124 MPH. Attempting to break the speed record set by his rival Mario Verga, Castoldi installed a new engine with twin superchargers. Burning methanol this new Ferrari engine produced close to 600 BHP. In October 1953 Castoldi set a new 800 kg speed record with an average flying kilometer 2-way speed of over 150 MPH
Model is very well packed however is oversize for Aus post. It will therefore need be sent by couriers. Unfortunately we are unable to insure the delivery process when we use Star Track Express...well...we can pay for insurance, but having them honour such is like trying to bleed a stone. Not anticipating any problems given the very sound packaging. Australia Wide Delivery Fixed at $55
