Serial Numbers:  My listings do include serial numbers of the scanner unit and ADF Unit. Scanner base/body holds a designated HP serial number plate. Automatic Document Feeder also has an individual HP serial number plate. On NIB Scanners with an ADF, HP maintains the basic serial number of the scanner found on the box UPC label and also has a record of the corresponding ADF attached to this particular scanner setup. Where applicable/available these serial numbers are photo archived in the event "any problem" should arise with this item, or ANY question regarding a refund issue related to a complaint of "not as described", or "item received not working."  Serial numbers are denoted on the "shipping box label",  your shipping notification  and as on the listing copy you receive.  Photo serial number documentation is maintained with the "listing archive photos" for a period of three months. Serial number documentation is solely for the purpose of "avoiding any issue" with return of any item which may have not been originally delivered.

PLEASE NOTE: As you are comparing scanners and prices on Ebay be sure to read the listings carefully, including the bottoms and the fine print. You may find this model scanner at a lower start bid, or at a lower "buy it now" price.  However, to find this model "new" and at a lower price many sellers are offering you a "refurb."  Also, many series are sold with "missing parts" including the paper input tray which is VERY hard to locate. If you do find it, you will pay dearly for it. Many are sold without the power adapters, sold "as is" without any guarantees.  One of the biggest claims I see from other seller's , "full hp warranty." Well, I am here to tell you that this is not true. First, hp will not warranty any older model. When when the warranty is pulled up by the serial number it is shown as "expired."  Hp will usually take the position that any hp product bought on EBay, Buy.com, Amazon, etc., even with a receipt will not be "factory" warranted as, "we cannot verify the condition of your purchase as new."  This is the primary reason I have aligned with Square Trade to offer the "Square Trade, Three Year Warranty" which you will find is at an "unbelievably" low cost.

Please Note: With the introduction of Windows 64 and the new Windows Vista, there are only a few hp scanners which will operate with these new operating systems. The 8200 series IS ONE OF THOSE.  Functional for another 10 years based on the viability of past operating systems. "Full Feature Drivers" for VISTA/Updated XP are INCLUDED WITH YOUR NEW SCANNER; NO NEED TO DOWNLOAD ANYTHING.

THINKING OF , OR NEEDING A NEW SCANNER?

First, consider this.  The HP 8250 and 8290 scanners both weigh about 26#. Other smaller models weigh from 12-17#.  What does this tell you about the construction of the scanner itself?  Yes, they are built as a "much more durable" scanner in general. Both the 8250 and 8290 are Vista Ready and are both "duplexing scanners" with an legal, oversize, size scanning bed.  The major difference between the 8250 and the 8290 is found in the automatic document feeder.  The 8250 scans @15ppm and 8290 will scan 25 ppm . Both can be connected USB, or via SCSI with the  "SCSI module" and kit which simply plugs in to the back of the scanner alongside the power adapter plug-in (an optional accessory for the 8250, included with 8290). The 8250 retailed initially for about $1200 while the 8290 initially retailed for about $1600. Now, you have both of these models, new scanners which are selling for under $500!  Scanner prices on Ebay as well as on hp.com do fluctuate weekly, controlled by market demand. My start bid price is an "unbeatable" start bid price for the unit you will receive.  This price will go no lower, but may increase as demands change.  Upgrade, or replace now as at these prices they will be gone shortly and you may be missing one of the greatest deals currently on Ebay for hp's "best". Just two months ago an 8250 had a start bid of over $600 and the 8290 of over $800!

The scanner and the operational setup is complete; install the software, connect via USB, or SCSI if applicable/included (not standard with 8250), plug in the power and you are ready to scan. Software for Paper Port, HP Commercial Document Management Disk with 5 programs including Pixel Trasitions and Isis as well as scanning  software for Windows and Mac including; the VISTA/Updated XP software. Shipped in shipping box. The scanner is repackaged to include the origional setup as described in the listing . Feedback on these has been extremely positive. Please feel free to check feedback on the HP Scanjet 8250, all same lot. This is not a "retail" box item, it has been repackaged for sale and for shipping.  These units were originally been used as a replacement under the "hp first year of warranty;" they are not remanufactured, or by law would be labeled as such. The units are resold to HP Reseller's and why you can receive at such a low cost in comparison to what the MSRP had been; over $1000. The only item missing is the owners manual which can be easily downloaded in PDF format for easy printing, or to be conveniently placed on your desktop for quick reference. The manual is also located on the Installation Disk. Although the item is new, it is shipped via pallet and may have some small mars/marks on the very bottom of the units due to pallet rubbing during shipping. This would have absolutely no affect on any function of the unit. Because the units are not received in a box there may be very superficial marks on the casing which I would compare to a fine mar in on the clearcoat of a new car. This would only be noticed with extreme scrutiny and similar to "open/non-box" items thru any retailer being sold as discounted. Any major cosmetic flaw would be described in the listing and the unit sold as a "reduced item listing" related to a major flaw.
