Ideal for those with older CRT (4:3 ratio) type televisions or High Definition Televisions (16:9 ratio) alike. The unit supports 5.1CH Dolby Surround Sound and has an easy set-up and menu interface, *HDMI (digital 1080i support) for a superior HD image, Component Video Output (Blue, Red and Green sockets, digital 1080i support) as well as standard AV (analogue) or Composite Video and Audio output (Yellow, Orange socket). Listen to the high quality audio through SPDIF Optical Audio output. Other features include an Electronic Program Guide (EPG), full function remote with volume control, teletext and subtitle, timer settings for recording your favourite programs to dvd or hdd recorder, favourite channel programming, one touch reminder for up coming programs on a different channel and parental control are all included as standard.
Backed by a 2 Year Warranty this unit is tested for the Australian Market and is one of the few models available with a firmware upgrade path and a freecall customer support line for peace of mind.
Q. Does this unit receive all the Standard Definition channels such as ABC 1,2 and HD also?
A. Yes the S8000 will pick up all the digital channels SD and HD channels that are broadcast in your local area, Australia wide. Q. What benefit will get if I have a normal CRT type TV?
A. The main benefits for this type of TV will be increased picture quality, clarity, improved reception and access to all the new HD channels broadcasting with extra programs, features and content.These channels are not available on Standard Definition (SD) Set Top Boxes or CRT, LCD or Plasma type Tv's without an HD tuner inbuilt. * Important update with the S8000 model is the ability to view programs full screen on a 4:3 ratio type tv (centre cut). Rather than viewing programs in 16:9 leaving black bars top and bottom the image will be displayed full screen without stretching. This feature is not relevant to widescreen type tv's.

*HDMI is a relatively new type of home video connection, supported on most high-definition displays and sources and on some standard-definition equipment as well. HDMI cable carries what amounts basically to a digital version of RGB video, with digital audio embedded in the video signal to enable a one-connector hookup between source and display.
