This package includes four softballs - a regulation 6 oz. ball, and the 7, 8, & 9 oz. balls recommended for the six-week training program that is outlined in the Weighted Softball book.
The book includes a complete manual for the use of weighted softballs, detailed drills & instructions and a six-week intro program utilizing the 6, 7, 8 & 9 oz. balls. The book also features a 25-page workout log to record pitches and to monitor progress.
The program is structured for pitchers of all ages and levels, though I do not recommend the use of weighted softballs for beginning and very young pitchers. Because a variety of factors should be considered when using weighted balls, I cannot specify an exact age. A good rule to follow is to make sure a pitcher has a solid understanding of, and is able to execute basic fastpitch fundamentals before including weighted softballs in their workouts.
The softballs in this package are regulation 11" circumference and have genuine leather covers.
A gradual program with weighted softballs can help improve strength, speed, endurance and confidence in pitchers at all levels.
These softballs are great for developing hand and arm strength, and have been proven to increase pitch speed.
The genuine leather simulates an authentic softball, and in my opinion, is easier on a pitcher's fingers.
The heavier balls in this set are recommended for intermediate and advanced pitchers. Exceptional care must be used when using these advanced weighted softballs.
Along with the Weighted Softball Intro Book, additional instructions for developing pitching accuracy, warm-up exercises, strength enhancement and stretching exercises are included with this set. The overload program included was developed by Clint Brill of the MVP School of Baseball.
Please note that these balls are not designed to be hit with a bat and if not used properly can cause injuries.
