Arguably the hardest circulating NZ coin to get in mint state.

The mintage figures for pretty much any coin from New Zealand's pre-decimal period are extremely small, particularly when compared to other developed nations that have much bigger populations.

There are a number of coins in the NZ set that are renown for being rare, particularly in high grade - the Waitangi Crown and the 1935 threepence are the two most well known rarities from NZ.

The 1936 florin however is arguably the toughest NZ pre-decimal coin to obtain in mint state - the 2009 edition of the "Premier Price Guide" to NZ coins rates the 1936 florin at NZ$8,000 (approximately US$5,750 at present) in mint state - almost as valuable as the 1935 Waitangi crown in A UNC, and far more than any other NZ coin issued for circulation.

As the images shows, this example is in superb, original mint state condition - it has superb surfaces, and a lovely deep tone across both sides. PCGS have graded it MS 64.
