This kit includes most of the mechanical hardware from our 1:48 Boiler-house and Winding-house kits including plans, instructions, engine bearer templates and timber but no drum winch, building structure details, roof iron or lumber.

Note: the heavy duty drum winch kit is available separately from our Store

Note: The buildings shown in some photos are not included with this 'machinery' kit but are included with our separate Boiler House and Winding House kits. We are also developing a series of simple structures, including a set of three mill worker's cottages which may be available now or later this year. In the interim, this comprehensive 'industrial' machinery set is just the thing to power your mine, mill or incline! 

Prototype History:

Our Winding House and Boiler House kits are loosely based on a prototype steam boiler, chimney and winding engine once located at the top of the Hartley Vale Incline near Mt Victoria in the Blue Mountans region of New South Wales. Shale was mined at Hartley Vale and refined kerosene oil was hauled up the 45 degree incline in tankers using a direct line pull from the powerful winch. A small loco then hauled the tankers along a narrow gauge line the short distance to the main line interchange.
