You are viewing an early Compaq portable computer, the Portable III, model 2660.

Released in 1987, it has an Intel 80286 12 MHz processor, 640k ram, and a built in hard drive (could be 20mb or 40mb – I'm not sure). Display is red / orange gas plasma.

This unit powers up okay, however seems to need a diagnostics disk to proceed further (see screen pic). Apparently you can download these to make your own at the above link. Display works fine.

Comes with the 2662A external expansion chassis attached to the rear, however there are no expansion cards fitted.

No accessories or disks included – what you see is what you get. Uses a standard IEC power cable (not included).

Appearance is okay, it would benefit from a clean and polish. Refer to pictures for more information. One of the little fold down keyboard feet is missing. The keyboard cable outer rubber layer is coming away a bit at the flex points at both ends, however the internal wiring looks fine.

Weight unpacked is about 10.5kg.

Operating voltage automatically adjusts to either 110 or 220 – 240 volts, so it us usable worldwide.

• Personal pickup is fine (and preferred if you can). If you need more info about pickup times or locations detailed in green text above, please email me with your location. I am usually able to deliver within greater Melbourne out to Ballarat area for a nominal fee, but please ask first!
• I am happy to answer any questions, but please check description and pictures first to make sure your answer isn't already there!
• The ongoing increase of costs associated with selling on eBay means that I now need to charge a $5 handling fee on all posted items, which will always be included in postage estimates I send you. I pack well, and use good quality bubble-wrap and boxes. Pickup remains free, of course.
