THIS IS A BID FOR A VERY NICE, OLDER (BEFORE 1970 & THE HOBBY PROTECTTION ACT OF 1973)REPRODUCTION OF AN 1846-P SEATED LIBERTY DOLLAR. THIS 'COIN' WAS MADE TO LOOK LIKE A HIGH GRADE THAT WE WOULD SAY IS ABOUT UNCIRCULATED WITH LIGHT, ATTRACTIVE TONING.

THIS 'COIN' LOOKS EXCELLENT IN QUALITY AND VERY AUTHENTIC, BUT IT WOULD NOT FOOL ANYONE AS IT WEIGHS ABOUT 19 GRAMS RATHER THAN THE NORMAL 26+ GRAMS OF AN AUTHENTIC SILVER DOLLAR. HOWEVER, WE HAVE ADDED 'COPY' NEATLY WRITTEN IN SMALL BUT DISTINCT LETTERS ON THE REVERSE. THIS COIN WAS PURCHASED BY AN EXPERIENCED COLLECTOR IN EUROPE MANY YEARS AGO FROM A COIN 'DEALER'.

THIS IS A NICE, EDUCATIONAL COIN THAT CAN BE BOUGHT FOR A LOW COST (CERTAINLY A FRACTION OF THE NEAR 4 FIGURE COST OF AN AUTHENTIC COIN!) AND WOULD BENEFIT MANY COLLECTORS, COIN CLUBS, DEALERS, ETC.. AS BETTER & BETTER FAKES AND COUNTERFEIT COINS ARE COMING INTO THE MARKET, THIS KIND OF EDUCATION IS BECOMING ESSENTIAL.

We regularly see lightly circulated coins being bid as Uncirculated and we regularly see circulated coins being bid at least a Grade or two higher than they actually are (unfortunately, we have even purchased some of these!). We also have seen coins inaccurately described (such as 1922 Weak D or No D Cents; Type I and Type II coins from 1979 & 1981; etc.).
