High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)
As the most advanced interface for transporting both uncompressed high-definition (HD) video and uncompressed multichannel audio in all HD formats, including 720p, 1080i and 1080p, HDMI has become the most desirable connectivity option for home entertainment. Onkyo's HDMI-enabled A/V receivers receive HD-quality signals from components such as DVRs, DVD players, set-top boxes and gaming consoles, and they also provide single-cable output to a display device with an HDMI or DVI connection.
Component Video Upconversion with TBC
Upconversion simplifies everything by taking connected components through a single component video output to any compatible display (including an HDTV). Composite and S-Video signals are upconverted to 480i. Upconversion enables a user-friendly solution to outputting all playback components. By incorporating a time base corrector (TBC) in the conversion process, inconsistencies in the signal's timing can be corrected, thereby ensuring the highest-quality picture possible. Also, if your Onkyo receiver supports component video upconversion, it will be able to handle high-definition sources, such as DVD recorders, DVD players and satellite/cable boxes.
Audyssey 2EQ Room Acoustic Correction
Loudspeakers are specifically designed to deliver sound without distortion or coloration. Nevertheless, walls, furniture and other objects reflect and absorb sound, creating distortion that is unique to your own space. To counter this, Audyssey 2EQ corrects problems both in frequency response and in the time domain (where most of the problems lie), across the entire listening area. The results are immediately obvious-a clear, precise and natural sound.
