The word 'encaustic' means 'to burn in' & refers to the way the ancient Romans & Greeks used melted bees' wax as a carrier medium for ground, natural pigments. This method has been updated with the use of brilliant, light fast pigments & electrical appliances.

This picture has been painted in pigmented bees' wax using an ordinary, every day travelling iron.

Bees' wax melts at 65 degrees C, so there's no danger of it melting off your wall!

Ppainting measures 2.5 inches x 3.5 inches. It is signed by the artist on the reverse.

Please note. This image has been scanned. This process - & the resolution of your monitor - can SERIOUSLY alter the colour of this painting. Bees' wax pigments are extremely bright (the red is fire engine red, the blue/green like an emerald held up to the sun, the pink like - well, like nothing else I've ever seen!)
