ELDORADO QUARTZITE

QUARTZITE

Quartzite is a hard metamorphic rock that was originally sandstone. Quartzite is very
resistant the weathering so can be utilised for both internal and external use.

Eldorado quartzite is well known for its natural, split finish allowing it to be used for
internal and external applications. Various amounts of colour are present in the stone
and although finish may be consistent, the colouring will never be adding to the beauty
and uniqueness of this quartzite.

The range of colours in Eldorado quartzite range from greens and browns to oranges and
yellows.

NATURAL FAULTS AND VARIATION TO EXPECT

• Colours vary greatly.
• Natural split finish with hand calibrated tiles, giving an uneven natural texture.
• Stone pieces may not be square, so a larger grout joint is recommended.
LAYING INSTRUCTIONS

PLEASE ALWAYS USE A QUALIFED STONE FIXER, EXPERIENCED IN THE
LAYING OF NATURAL STONE.

Because this is a natural stone, every piece is different and the fixer should mix the
pieces prior to laying any tiles. Chipped, damaged and naturally marked tiles should be
put aside for cutting in-fills. Please allow 5-10% for wastage.

Floors should be screeded and allowed to dry for 5-8 days, depending on existing
weather conditions. Existing and wooden floors must be rigid, stable and capable of
supporting the additional load without flexing and be in a good condition, ready to accept
quartzite tiles.

When laying this quartzite, keep floors free from grit and gravel as this can scratch the
surface of any stone, also keep area clean from contaminates.

NOTE: As any stone is porous, efflorescence can occur with the use of a cementious
adhesive system, were regular wetting occurs, take care to seal substrates or rendered
walls to eliminate the appearance of efflorescence. If efflorescence does occur, do not
seal stone until they have had sufficient time to cure.

SEALING

INSTALLATION CONSTITUTES ACCEPTANCE OF THE MATERIAL

When sealing, area must first be clear of any leftover dirt, glue, grout and general
building rubbish. There are many more products available on the market; please
research needs and requirements prior to purchasing any stone products and
enhancements, as no responsibility will be taken by Classic Ceramic Importers Pty Ltd
after fixing has commenced.

Natural Looking Finish Penetrating Sealer – Recommendation Only

Is a natural-look, below-surface sealer designed to resist stains. Can also be used as a
pre-grouting sealer over clean tile surfaces. For application methods and suitable
sealers, please consult your sealing company.

Enrich’N’Seal – Recommendation Only

Is a no-sheen, penetrating sealer formulated to darken, enrich and highlight the character
and beauty of natural stones. It rejuvenates the colour and improves the appearance of
worn and weathered material. For application methods and suitable sealers, please
consult your sealing company.

Low Sheen Finish Sealer – Recommendation Only

Is a specially formulated water-based blend of acrylic polymers that provides both a
stain-resistant surface seal and a durable low-sheen finish. May also be used as a pre-
grouting sealer over clean stone surfaces. For application methods and suitable sealers,
please consult your sealing company.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Regular and routine cleaning can add to the visual life of your stone. Without care, stone
can end up looking old, dirty and tired. Following are some products to help with the
maintenance of natural stone.

Stone Cleaner – Recommendation Only

Is a concentrated, effective neutral cleaner that will not affect existing sealers or wax-type
coating. To be used in the routine maintenance of slate, granite and other natural
stones. For application methods, please consult your sealing company.

Stone Poultice – Recommendation Only

Is a fine, non-acidic, absorbing clay and abrasive cleaning powder, designed for the
removal of deep-set oil and grease stains and light grout haze. For application methods,
please consult your sealing company.

Stone Deep Clean – Recommendation Only

Is a concentrated heavy duty cleaner and degreaser designed to clean heavily neglected
areas. Effectively removes dirt, grease, grime, also removes waxes, and floor finishes.
For application methods, please consult your sealing company.

PROBLEM SOLVERS

Eff-Ex – Recommendation Only

Eff-Ex is a heavy-duty, non-acidic cleaner designed to remove efflorescence. When
used as directed, Eff-Ex can inhibit the reoccurrence of remaining efflorescence. Eff-Ex
can be used on natural polished stone, unpolished stone, grout, porcelain and ceramic
tiles.
