[CAT $45+ Regular Issue]. A Very important Issue as it was the 1st Polymer Banknote ever Issued in Australian as well as being the WORLD's 1ST Official Polymer Banknote ever Released. The 1988 $10 Johnstone&Fraser AA Issue with Limited EDITION Date of 1ST Issue OVPT & Striking Capt James COOK Hologram Windowed OVD, continuing the Capt Cook Watermark Used on Aussie Paper Notes. Only printed in 1988 & designed to Celebrate Australia's 200Years of European Settlement 1788-1988. It alos acted as a TEST Note to determine Polymers suitability as a replacement for Paper Banknotes, which were circulated at the time. With this Early Polymer unusual compared to later Polymers; given it's much Larger Dimensions, that are closer to the Older Paper Banknotes, than Polymers today. Clearly an Early transitional type to fully compare Polymer to $10 Paper circulation as these have similar Dimensions. Just as importantly it was the Very 1ST Aussie Commemorative Banknote ever to be released, & given almost 20Years Old is bound to be a nice Investment Commemorative Folder Issue TO put Away Superior 999 Serials. |
