Old Handcarved Japanese Camphor? Box

This is an old beautifully Handcarved Japanese camphor? Wooden Box.

This lovely old box has the lid and front panel carved out to depict a seated Japanese person looking out over a 'watery' (we think) scene. There looks to be stylized trees, flowers and mountains. The back and sides have a deeply grooved square design. There is an old brass clasp lock at the front. We are not really sure if the wood is camphor or not, but there is still a very faint aroma of camphor inside the box.

The box is 12.5cm in height x 24.7cm in length x 14cm in width and 7cm in depth when open. 

The Box was given to our Grandparents during the early 50's, from a WWII ex-serviceman who had just returned from Japan.  It has been used and is in reasonably good condition with no chips or rubbing of any of the wooden surfaces. However, there is a split in the wood at the front; it doesn't sit straight and is a little wobbly on its feet and the lid doesn't sit straight on the base.

We only charge Australia Post's rates plus .50 cents for packaging and there are no other extra 'hidden' charges. We do not 'blanket' charge unless the item weighs under 500gms, as we prefer to charge the correct amount of postage rated on your Postcode. We post your item within 24-48 hours after full payment has been received.

The Box will leave us as described. We take great care with our packaging, using new bubble wrap, foam peanuts and or styrofoam packing where necessary, so please do not hold us accountable for any damage or loss incurred by Australia Post.

We do our best to describe each item, including any flaws, however we may unintentionally miss a flaw and for this we apologise for doing so.  We will refund only if the item has been grossly misrepresented and returned to us within 7 days.
