I am offering for sale a very good example of a french violin with the label D. Soriot.  The violin was purchased in the early 1980s from a convent music teacher in Parkes NSW.   These violins were a trade model made by the Laberte company in France between 1890 and 1930.

Violin is in overall very good condition.  Some minor wear constant with its age.  A soundpost crack of 1.5 inches was repaired in the late 1990s by a violin repairer in Castlemaine VIC.  Set up done at the same time.  Small f hole crack to the treble f hole.  (see pics).   Appears stable.  

Violin has a two piece back for nicley figured maple with a medium curl.  Front is a two piece pine front of a medium grain.  Pegbox and scroll have a broader curl.

Label Reads:  D. Soriot, Luthier Ecole Francaise.

Measurements:  20.75cm lower bout - 20.75cm

Upper bout: 16.6cm

Length of back: 36.8cm

Length of violin:  58.5cm

Varnish is orange-brown colour.  (honey)
