Old Vintage Hand-carved Wooden Horse Sculpture Art Deco

Measurements: 45 cm tall, 37 cm length

Beautiful old wooden sculpture of a horse, hand-carved from a single block of wood. This is a large piece, standing 45 cm (nearly 18" tall), and features amazing detail, form and texture. The horse has been carved from a single block of wood, and has amazing details, which are further highlighted by the grains in the wood. The carving and specific details, and overal form, should be evident in the photos I have provided. There is however, another level to this, and that is the grain, and tone, of the wood used. On one side, the horse is a light tan hue, but when you examine the other side, you find a much darker hue, with even darker grain aspects, which give this statue an aura of other-worldliness. The dark side of this horse, does have some wear. There are numerous small light specks, which could be scratches, or marks caused by something trying to eat into the surface. But this wear only affects the surface, and is a telling sign that this item has a fair bit of age about it. There is also a fracture to the top part of the right ear. It is hard to tell, but it may have brocken off, and been glued back on, or it may just be a fracture, caused by age. I would think this was probably created around the middle of the 20th century. It is a beautiful vintage decorative art piece, which would appeal to anyone who loves horses, wooden sculptures, or amazing decorative objects, which can be displayed and admired. This would make an excellent gift, or, an excellent acquistion, for anyone who appreciates such art and craftsmanship.
