This picture, Mughal Splendor, by photographer Richard McGuire shows a group of people walking barefoot across the marble floor outside the Taj Mahal, with the elaborate gate to the complex in the background. The Taj Mahal was built in Agra, India in the mid-17th century at the height of Mughal rule in India by emperor Shajahan for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died in childbirth. The photo is one in a series of black and white pictures of India and Nepal by photographer Richard McGuire.
