Pair of Plush dolls from the heartwarming Tsunami story.

Owen is 9" long and Mzee is 7.5" long.

When the 2004 tsusami struck, a baby hippo ("Owen") was separated from his mother and the rest of their pod and stranded on a coral reef.

After a very difficult rescue, he was placed in the Kenyan animal sanctuary, Haller Park, where the two creatures now live.

Once set loose in the sanctuary, he immediately moved toward Mzee (the Swahili term for "wise old man"), a 130-year-old Aldabra tortoise, and huddled behind him.

The two animals, mammal and reptile, are now inseparable.

Craig Hatkoff and his then-six-year-old daughter Isabella followed the story in the papers, and then--with the help of Paula Kahumby, Manager of the Kenyan Wildlife Sanctuary-- wrote the book Owen & Mzee: The True Story of a Remarkable Friendship

We offer shipping via first class when available. If first class is not available we offer either Priority Mail or Third Class Mail (Parcel Post or Media Mail where applicable). We suggest Priority Mail even though it is slightly more expensive because Third Class is unreliable and could take up to 30 days for delivery. If you choose Third Class tracking and insurance are mandatory.

To save on shipping fees, we will combine shipping for multiple purchases where possible. Our posters and chartlets are shipped in tubes for protection during shipping and therefore if posters or chartlets are purchased with other items we will not be able to combine shipping.
