15th Medical Battalion MEDEVAC - Flight Jacket Patch 1st Cavalry Division
15th Medical Battalion Shipping out of Fort Benning with the rest of the 1st Cavalry Division in July of 1965 the 15th Medical Battalion was unusual in the fact that it operated 12 of it's own AeroMedical Evacuation Helicopters on it's first days in VietnaM (and until their departure). This is an excellent, large, Flight Jacket - Medevac Patch. Variously Located at An Khe, Lai Khe, Phuoc Vinh and Bien Hoa the primary role of the 15th Medical Battalion, with a strength of some 400 personnel at it's height in Vietnam was to lift and evacuate combat personnel from the field to relevant treatment areas. Other duties on the ground included the day to day Medical Maintenance of the Division including Dentistry, Boils, nervous ticks and the like.
