394th Transport Detachment / Battalion One Only Available - Rare Piece. This is a superbly rare piece. Officially named the 394th Transport Battalion this unit was not even company sized. This patch of Field Combat Helicopter Maintenance attached to the 1st Cavalry Division out of Qui Nhon. Patch is Flight Jacket Patch - Measures, 5.5 inches in diameter ( 14 cms )
The 394th Transport Battalion arrived into Vietnam out of Fort Eustis in August of 1965 (around the same time as the 1st Cavalry Division) and was based at Qui Nhon. Although officially named a Battalion the unit in Vietnam numbered no more than 60 operatives at any time during their Vietnam Stay. Their overall role was the maintenance, storage, recovery and repair of helicopters attached to the 101st Airmobile.
