You are looking at a copy of Peter Pan & Wendy by J.M. Barrie - it has no publishing date on it but I think that it dates from the 20's or very early 30's. It belonged to my 91 year old mother (it has her maiden name on the first page in pencil) - so I am guessing the age of the book to be over 80 years old. The publisher is Hodder & Stoughton in London.
The book is in good condition for this age although the first page of the book is loose and the last page is only hanging on by a thread! Pages are yellowing and stained with age but otherwise the book is in pretty good shape. It is illustrated by Mabel Lucie Attwell in both colour and black & white - the 12 colour illustrations are on separate smaller sheets of paper (like a matte photograph). They are stuck in the book only down the side of the illustration so that they are "flapping". There are 19 black & white illustrations throughout the text.
The book has 320 pages and 17 chapters. There is a Swains sticker on the inside of the book - obviously where the book was purchased.
I am not experienced in old books so please email me if you have any queries and I will endeavour to answer them.
Item comes from a smoke free home.
Thank you for looking at my Peter Pan & Wendy - it has been a treasured part of my library and now it needs a new owner to love & cherish it.
(Forgot to mention the size of the book is 24 cm x 16 cm x 4.5 cm)
