CODD MARBLE BOTTLE 

Interesting old drink bottle with captive marble in the neck.  The marble was an early form of stopper for pressurised drinks, where the marble sealed against a rubber seal in the neck.

Few of these have survived the ravages of time, largely because of the common practice of young boys breaking the bottles open to retreive the marbles!

Feature unusual tapered narrow neck and four circular depressions above the marble retainer.  The old glass contains a number of bubbles trapped during the manufacturing process.   Also has interesting impression of a runnung greyhound

The height of the bottle is approx 24cm  [ 9.4 inch ]

The overall condition is very good for its age.  There are no significant chips or cracks in the glass. The mottle is marked

There is also something stamped on the base which cannot easily be read.
