Plantain, also known as ‘nature’s band-aid’, has a rosette of roundish leaves with large veins on short, flattened stems. The seed stalk is leafless. The perfect wound healer. Stops blood flow from open cuts and minor wounds. Put the mashed leaf on insect bites to take out the pain and itch. Spring leaves can be steamed, used fresh in a salad or used to make a nutritious tea high in potassium that relieves water retention and is soothing to mucus membranes.
