PALE VANILLA LILY - A MULTI-FLOWERING DELIGHT
GENUS ARTHROPODIUM MILLEFLORUM

Arthropodium milleflorum, commonly known as the Pale Vanilla Lily, is a native perennial lily that is found naturally in New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania. In the wild it is found in moist well-drained soils in hilly or rocky areas.

Growing to about a metre in height it has grey-green, narrow, keeled leaves. It is a tuberous plant that produces edible tubers. It produces masses of small flowers in the spring that can range in colour from mauve to a very pale lilac to white.

This species is frost hardy in Australian terms (-7C). It is best in a well-drained light soil, either sandy or a light loam, with good moisture. It will die off and go dormant for a short time in late summer. It is quick-growing easily grown from fresh seed.
