Features & Benefits
142-Hour Extended Recording
With our DMR-E85H, you can record up to 142 hours (EP mode) on the built-in hard disc. You can then edit the material before transferring it to DVD-R or DVD-RAM discs, which hold up to 8 hours on a single sided disc.
High Speed Recording from Hard Disc
High-Speed recording from Hard Disk to DVD-RAM (3x Speed compatible) or DVD-R (4x Speed compatible) disc can be done with the touch of a single button.
Simultaneous Record & Play Function
While you're recording this week's episode of your favorite show, you may want to watch last week's episode. This function makes it possible. It lets you record a program while you watch another one that has already been recorded onto the same disc.
80GB Built-in Hard Disk
Playable Discs:
DVD-RAM (12cm & 8cm), DVD-R (12cm & 8cm), DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, Video CD, CD-Audio (CD-DA), CD-R/RW (MP3, CD-DA, Video CD formatted discs)
Recordable Discs:
DVD-RAM (12cm & 8cm), DVD-R (12cm & 8cm)
Playlist Playback
You can select from among the scenes recorded on a disc and arrange them in any order you want, to create your own original scenario, then save it as a playlist. You can also enjoy seamless transitions between edited scenes.
Playlist Recording from Hard Disc
Because there is no re-encoding (decoding the MPEG2 compression, and then encoding it into MPEG2 again) done when recording a TV program or edited playlist from the hard disc onto a DVD-RAM or DVD-R disc, the image quality remains extremely high.
Playlist Recording with Thumbnails
You can rearrange scenes or delete unwanted ones with the Playlist function, then record the results onto a DVD-RAM or DVD-R disc. With both disc types, the recorded playlist can be displayed as thumbnails, so selecting the scenes you want is easy.
Quick View (x 1.3)
Panasonic DVD recorders are able to play back at 1.3 times the normal speed (restricted formats and disc types), complete with sound, so you can quickly check the contents of a recorded program when you don't have time to watch it at normal speed. |

New Direct Navigator
Find desired programs fast. Just press the Direct Navigator button to display thumbnails of all the programs on a disc, then, select the one you want and press ENTER. It's that easy.
Time Slip functions
Chasing Playback - The DVD recorder is set to start recording at 6:00pm, when your show begins. You get home at 7:00pm while the program is still in progress. With 'Chasing Playback' you don't have to wait till recording is finished to watch the show. you can play it from the beginning while it continues to record to the end.
Time Slip Button - Just press the 'Time Slip' button once during recording to start playing back the scene recorded 30sec before.
One-Touch Record & Play Function
This Record feature finds empty space on a disc prior to recording, stopping accidental recording over a prior recorded program. The Play feature, skips blank space on the disc is automatically, saving you manual search time.
Progressive Scan (PAL/NTSC)
The Panasonic DVD Recorder is equipped with a high-precision progressive video processor that handles 25-frame (NTSC: 30-frame) progressive scan images (To enjoy a progressive scan picture, a TV with progressive scan capabilities must be used).
Create Your Own DVD with Thumbnails
When you record programs on a DVD-R disc and then finalize and load the disc, both the title and a thumbnail image from each program are displayed. A glance is all you need to see the discs contents. You choose the scenes for each of the thumbnails
Relief Recording
This function automatically checks the remaining disk space when recording onto DVD-RAM or DVD-R disc. If there is not enough space, relief recording beings onto the hard disc. Relief recording kicks in even when you have forgotten to insert a disc.
Recording Mode Conversion
When recording at normal speed from the hard disc to a DVD-RAM or DVD-R disc, you can convert from one recording mode to another (it is not possible to convert to a higher-version mode).
High-Quality Linear PCM Audio (XP Mode Only)
In addition to Dolby Digital audio recording, Panasonic DVD recorder can record sound using linear PCM (pulse code modulation) without compressing the audio signal. The resulting sound quality is superb.
Bilingual Recording
Both the main and sub audio channels of sound multiplex broadcasting programs can be recorded (This fuction can only be used to record to the hard disc and DVD-RAM only).
CPRM Recording Capability
Panasonic DVD Recorders are ready for the future 'CPRM required programs' that permit the recording of only first generation copies. (CPRM: Content Protection for Recordable Media) |
