This is the current model and has been hardly used. It has a digital tuner inside so can record digital broadcasts. And if you don't have a digital TV this will let you watch digital broadcasts!

 Q: hi does this thing also receive analog tv, abc etc. as digital tv has no movies as yet,especially the abc1 also how does the macrovision protection on comercial vhs affect the copying to dvd? thank you bill
A: Yes. This digital recorder certainly does receive analog as well as digital TV - and can record both. I know nothing about macrovision protection, but I have copied a VHS tape successfully.
