69th Infantry 241st Military Intelligence Det MACV-SOG - Special Forces   241st Military Intelligence Detachment 69th Infantry This is a terrificially rare patch of the 241st Military Intelligence Detachment. Originally a reserve detachment in Boston the 241st was called up (on extreme short notice) for preparation for Vietnam service (alongside and part of the 69th Infantry Brigade) on the 11th of April 1968 at the peak of the tet Offensive Attacks. Made up of Bankers, Lawyers, Teachers and Builders the 241st Military Intelliegence Detachment shipped out of Boston and within three days was in training for the conditions in Vietnam at Fort Carson. Immediately the actions of the 241st Military Intelligence Detachment became classified. Whilst the remainder of the elements of the 69th Infantry underwent standard Vietnam training the 241st were fast-tracked and were in Vietnam by the end of June of 1968. They were operating with US Special Forces, MACV-SOG by July of 1968. The unit continued to grow in strength for the next 12 months with more, newly arrived operatives assigned. Although the remainder of the 69th Infantry had returned to the US by December of 1969 the 241st were to remain assigned to MACV-SOG and the Task Force units until late 1971.
