D Troop - 8th Sky Cavalry Super Rare Sky Cav Patch 8th Cavalry Regiment

D Troop - 8th Cavalry Regiment Superbly rare piece of the short lioved, Troop D of the 8th Cavalry Regiment. Troop D was activated at Ogden, Utah in September of 1964. By September of 1965 the Unit had shipped out of Fort Benning with the 1st Cavalry Division and into An Khe were it was to remain with the 1st Cavalry Division until June of 1967. It should be noted that initially Troop D was fully Airborne Qualified Paratroop Infantry but by November of 1966 had become an Airmobile Assault Troop (Helicopter Insertions). In July of 1967 the Troop moved, with the 1st Cavalry Division Suffering heavy losses during during the early days of the Tet Offensive and with remaining equipment re-assigned, Troop D, 8th Cavalry Regiment was deactivated on the 29th of February 1968 whilst their Vietnam Base was under assault by the Viet Cong.
