3rd Squadron - 17th Cavalry - Air Cavalry Apache Troop was the Air Cavalry Element of the 3rd Squadron Extra rare patch of Apache Troop ( Troop A ) the 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry, Air Cavalry. In-country from October 1967 out of Fort Knox and initially served as part of the 12th Aviation Group and was primarily based at Di An. Their service in Vietnam to date of Patch took in, as patch denotes service in both the 1st and 3rd Military Tactical Zones ( I and III Corps Tactical Zones). III Corps located from the South China Sea, through Saigon, Cu Chi, Tay Ninh to cambodia border. I Corps located to the north of South Vietnam from Quang Ngai Province, through Hue to the DMZ and across to the Laos Border. Ended their service in Vietnam under control of the 1st Cavalry division. Recognized as one of the more successful units to operate in Vietnam. Apache Troop left Vietnam in April of 1972.
