Item specifics - Antiquities
Original/Reproduction: OriginalEra: 1800s
Originating Region: Europe

Here is a strand of pearls with a truly beautiful clasp. It is 44 cm in total length.

With it is a pair of screw on pearl earrings.

Now this is the puzzle. The clasp for the necklace is a very high grade of silver. It is hallmarked 935 HB and the front has the most amazing detail. And yet I dont think that the pearls are genuine pearls. Very strange.

The earrings, on the other hand, do seem to be genuine pearls, but I cannot find any silver marks.

I know the age of these pieces as they belonged to my great aunt. She was a lady of very good taste., which is why I am so surprised that the necklace pearls may not be pearls at all.

Anyway, here they are on offer.

I invite you to browse through my other pieces.

Happy bidding.

Q: Why not just take them to jewller and he will tell you if they are real or not. You be selling real pearls at a discount. What are the hallmarks on the ear rings.
A: Hello. I have taken them to a jeweller. He said the pearls were real in the earings and didn't think they were in the necklace. However, the silver in the necklace was high quality, but no hallmarks on the earings. that... Continue reading

Q: Hi Noticed that you didn't know if the pearls were real or not, a quick test is to rub against your teeth - real will be like rubbing sandpaper on your teeth and fake will be smooth like plastic. The set you have are... Continue reading
A: Thank you for that. I have done what you said and they both feel a bit scratchy. But I would not like to say one way or another because I am not an expert. It just seems strange to me that you would put high quality silver... Continue reading
