Peter Comes to Stay by Lois Southern (this hardcover 1st edition was printed in 1966 by Ure Smith and illustrated by Wally Jex) - other sites have this edition listed for over $42!

Item Description: Overall this book is in fair condition. The book is dark with black text on spine. Someone has written with blue biro 'Front Peter comes to stay' on the front and 'Back Peter Comes to Stay' on the back. The inside cover has two biro markings and the first title page has a number of biro markings also. There is some slight foxing to the pages and the binding seems to be in good condition. The back inside cover has some biro markings also.

It was night-time on the orange orchard at Kurrajong where Jenny and Penny Morison lived with their parents and their little brother Teddy. It was very quiet outside. The ducks and hens had gone to sleep long ago, their heads tucked under their wings. The cows had been fed and turned out to graze in the paddocks. Black Llindy, the children's pony, was safe and warm in her shed. Scotty, the blue cattle-dog, was half asleep at the back door, but always with one ear cocked for strange cats or bandicoots. The only sounds anywhere were a small rustle of wind in the treetops and an owl in the mountains ...'
