PHAR LAP
by
ISABEL CARTER
The great racehorse, Phar Lap, has become an authentic part of the Australian legend in the years since his death in 1932 and this account of his fabulous career by Isabel Carter formed the basis for a film of his ill-fated career.
The research for this book was painstaking. Not only were newspapers and official records of the time consulted, but access was obtained to documents not generally available previously.
This book presents the whole story: Phar Lap's birth in New Zealand; his beginnings as an ugly, ungainly colt to his astonishing development into a magnificent, powerful animal; his journey to America and his victory in Mexico and his death 16 days later.
Was Phar Lap poisoned? New evidence was uncovered by the author, and carefully sifted to reach a conclusion that may surprise many readers.
This A5 sized, 165 page book is used but the pages are in good condition. First published in 1964, this edition was published in 1983. The hardback cover is aged but intact.
