“Item Lost or Damaged in Post” Procedure

Sometimes, albeit rarely, items get lost or damaged in the post – a problem that is neither the seller nor the buyer’s fault. Whilst I always encourage buyers to take up the “Signed for/Recorded delivery” option (at 72p additional cost), I will always obtain a “Certificate of Posting” from the Post Office, should ordinary 1st/2nd class post be chosen as the delivery option by the buyer.

In the event of loss or damage to the item in the post, this certificate will be used by myself in an attempt to obtain 100% compensation from the Post Office. Should compensation be obtained, I will either, at my discretion;

• Refund 100% of the compensation obtained to the buyer, whatever the figure, or if possible,
• Send the buyer a replacement item at my expense.

In the event of compensation not being received, I will refund the buyer to the tune of 50% of his/her total costs (i.e item cost + buyer’s postage).

Please note that compensation is not awarded by the Post Office until 14 days have elapsed from the date of posting, and no compensation will be awarded to the buyer until after that date.
