Item Description
After years of producing economical and often uninspiring cars Plymouth brought out a high performance vehicle. Outwardly looking like a luxury Belvedere placed next to it the difference is apparent; it is an inch lower giving a purposeful look. Powered by a 5-litre V8 the ride was firm. This was a period of manufacture of big and heavy cars with the inevitable need for larger engines. Nevertheless these were cars that gave top road performance plus comfort and luxury.

There were extensive styling changes in 1961 with the removal of the fins, taking of a little of the weight. By the early 1970s Federal safety standards were making their mark in design, in particular bumpers. The Fury needed a quick re-design for 1973 after a major 1972 re-styling. Still a big car the fuel crisis took it toll and competitors started to reduce the size of their cars to be more economical, the Fury had to change.

This is a book of contemporary road and comparison tests, specification and technical data, new model introductions and long-term tests. Models covered include: Fury I, II, III, GT, VIP, Gran Coupe, Sedan, Convertible, Wagon.
