Poole Pottery Spear Dish - Delphin Range Shape 82

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Poole 'Spear' Dish/platter

A vibrant Delphis Spear platter - shape number 82 with abstract pattern in red,

orange, yellow and green/aqua glaze.

This lovely dish has provided many years of enjoyment for me but it's been packed away for so long, I think it's time someone else has the pleasure of owning it...

DESIGN: Delphis began as a studio range in 1963 and, although colour palettes were standardised in the 1970's, each piece is a unique expression by the individual artist. The range was withdrawn in 1979.

DATING: circa 1963 to 1970s - Shape 82 was I believe used between 1963-6 to 1979 but am not a collector so unsure precisely..

DIMENSIONS: 17" (42cm) long and a maximum of 7" (17cm) wide.

BACKSTAMP: Printed "POOLE England" on the base together with signature arched Poole dolphin.

PAINTRESS: The mark on the dish looks like an 'AH' which I assume would indicate Anne Hatchard, but cannot be sure as I cannot find this marking on any other Poole ware & other Anne Hatchard markings I've seen do not look like this!!.

CONDITION: Excellent condition - only ever on display. Slight hairline on back as can be seen on the close-up picture - not sure if this is from wear or caused in manufacture.
