'Popeye', 'Bluto' & 'Olive Oyl' - Issued Summer 2001

Full Set of three statues in the Series, plus the "POPEYE' display plaque.  The intended target production was a thousand individual statues. However they only produced around 500 pieces each, hence there are less than 500 full sets worldwide.

Statues are like new, 'minty' condition. Boxes are in excellent, as new condition, very minor shelf wear. Complete with numbered certificates of authenticity. Kept in the box, out for photo shoot only.  Each statue, 'Popeye', 'Olive Oyl' and 'Bluto' are individually numbered under their base.

".... Inspired by the classic black & white cartoons of the 1930's and 1940's produced by Fleischer Studios. As a tribute to the Fleischer Brothers' work sculptor Tony Cipriano, a life long Popeye fan, has tried to capture the feel of these cartoons in these Cold Cast, Limited Edition Maquettes. A clay sculpture was created utilizing original animator model sheets and the films themselves as reference. Molds were then made and these statues were hand cast and hand painted, only 1000 production pieces and 30 artist proofs were created...."

The statues' bases are designed to interlock to form a diorama or stand alone. Popeye stands puffing on his pipe, muscles bulging in 'an about to pounce' stance. An alarmed Olive Oyl is waving at Popeye with a can of spinach in her hand. Bluto with a fierce grimace, stands ready to punch someone's lights out.

Height of Bluto statue is 17cm, Popeye 14cm high and Olive statue is 17cm high. Display plaque, 'POPEYE' is 7cm x 2cm high.
