PowerBook G4 12" 1.5Ghz 1.5GB 60GB *FAULTY* $1NR

The PowerBook G4/1.5 12" features a 1.5 GHz PowerPC 7447a (G4) processor with the AltiVec "Velocity Engine" vector processing unit and 512k on chip level 2 cache, 512 MB of PC2700 DDR SDRAM, a 60 GB (M9690LL/A) or 80 GB (M9691LL/A) Ultra ATA/100 hard drive (5400 RPM), either a slot-loading 8X "Combo" drive (M9183LL/A) or 8X "SuperDrive" (M9184LL/A), built-in Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and AirPort Extreme (802.11g), and NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 (4X AGP) graphics with 64 MB of DDR SDRAM in an attractive aluminum alloy case with a 12.1" TFT XGA display (1024x768 native resolution). Custom configurations also were available.

Compared to the PowerBook G4/1.33 12" that it replaced, the PowerBook G4/1.5 12" is quite similar, but is equipped with a faster processor, a faster hard drive complete with "Sudden Motion Sensor" technology that stops the hard drive heads from moving if the notebook is dropped, a new "Scrolling Trackpad" that allows one to scroll or pan by touching the trackpad with two fingers instead of one, and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR.

Now, here's the fault...
When I was removing a thumb drive that failed to eject properly, the computer crashed. Upon restarting, the computer froze at the grey screen with a white apple and a spinning disc.
I was able to start the computer in FireWire Target Disc mode and have erased the hard drive. The computer will not boot on the original discs for 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5, crashing when restarting holding C and D. I have lost the original discs ;(
I also do not have a mac old enough to attempt an operating system install over FireWire but that may be possible.

The computer ran perfectly since purchase new in 2004 and has had the RAM upgraded to 1.5gb. The battery was replaced in 2005 with the recall battery and since then has suffered the same fate as every PB12" battery - runs on 90% charge for 30 minutes and then goes completely flat. All replacement batteries have the same fault, so this computer (when running) pretty much requires the AC adapter (included)

This computer may be suitable for parts but I have a feeling you will be able to get it running pretty easily. Included in the auction is:
