Welcome fellow Militaria Collector: If you are into US Militaria, Uniforms, Swords, etc from the 1800s there is probably something in my lifetime collection of over 3000 pieces that needs to be thinned out in preparation of retirement that will fit into yours, but it takes a tremendous amount of time to make the photographs and compose the listings etc and so this process is going to take months if not years. FIRST, check my other listings by using the "View Seller's Other Items" link in the upper right corner of this page as I have things scattered out in many different categories and that link is a convenient way to see all in one place the things that I have listed. SECOND, bookmark me as one of your favorite sellers and that will make it easy to refer back to my updated inventory periodically. Thank you! Note: I can only post 12 photos but justice cannot be done to this sword with only twelve! Simply email me and I can send you the rest of the photos. Presentation 1872 Pattern Cavalry Officer Sword with sword knot and deluxe pierced scabbard mounts...check out the photo of the upper mount with the federal eagle and shield. Imported blade with knight head hallmark. Sword made and marked on ricasso "Made by the MC Lilley & Co. Columbus, Ohio". Almost perfect blade with military trophys and floral design panels. Center panel with prestation to Major J.R. Wilson Co.B 1st Inft. N.D.N.G. Grip will more detailed than ordinary 1872 pattern designs, near perfect blue sharkskin grips with twisted brass wire...oly defect is that at one time the sowrd was dropped or fell over and there is a small dent (that with careful, skilled efforts could probably be mostly mitigated) at the top edge (where it struck the ground) of the guard (see photo). The gilding on the grip and scabbard mounts is probably still 90%. There are no dents or creases to the scaabbard, but the plating (nickel, no doubt) is beginning to frost, which could probably be improved a bit with careful polishing. Sword is very long...Maj. Wilson must have been tall..measures ". All and all and fabulous presentation 1872 Cavalry. Shipping is in a 6" diameter heavy wall shipping tube and while not that expensive for domestic US, it is quite a bit more expensive for International. International shipments are required by PayPal to go via Express Mail International in order to get Online Tracking, a Delivery Signature Confirmation, and Insurance. International buyers should note that the shipping costs as indicated at the top of the listing are for Domestic US only. Click on the "Shipping and Payments" tab or "see all details" link for charges to your International location. I would prefer that International buyers contact me first so that I can clarify shipping procedures and costs, and so that there will be no misunderstandings. |
