CONVERTING 400ft of 8mm or 16mm HOME MOVIES TO DVD .

This offer is to convert 400ft of Cine Film to DVD. Film can be supplied to us on one single 400ft reel or eight of the smaller 50ft reels. The 50ft reels of film will be spliced together and wound onto a 400ft spool as part of our service. Your film will also be cleaned to remove years of dirt and dust accumulation and also include basic editing to remove bad sections of film at no extra cost. Most transfer companies will charge you an extra fee for all the services that we include for FREE!

Our film transfers are performed using the very highest quality optical equipment that captures the image directly off the film as it passes through the projector. The film is transferred directly into a 3CCD broadcast quality digital camera without the need for screens that compromise image quality. If your films are worth preserving, it is worth having them professionally recorded to reveal all the original colours and image detail, making the result comparable with today's high quality video. Don’t settle for just an average result, get the best that technology can offer.
We can convert Super 8mm, Standard (Double 8mm or Regular 8mm) and 16mm Film Formats. If the film includes a sound track, this will also be transferred during the conversion process. The following illustration shows the three main film formats.

Photographic film is affected by relative humidity, temperature, light, chemical contamination and of course the age of the film itself. The majority of 8mm and 16mm film today is between 20 and 40 years old and in many cases is in an advanced state of deterioration. Converting your ageing film to a digital format stops this process, giving you the opportunity to pass these valuable memories on for the enjoyment of future generations.

The image to your right shows the relative size of the 400ft reel of film compared to the smaller 50ft reels. Your films can be supplied on either spool sizes. If you are sending 8 or more individual smaller reels, PLEASE NUMBER THE ORDER IN WHICH THEY SHOULD BE CONVERTED FOR TIME-LINE CONTINUITY.

The transfer of 8 x 50ft smaller reels of film to DVD or 1 x 400ft single reel of film to DVD.
Cleaning of the film prior to projection to remove any build-up of mildew, dirt and dust that is normally present on film after 20 to 40 years of storage. All splices are checked and re-joined if the cement or tape joint appears to be failing.
Splicing and joining together of the 8 x 50ft reels onto a single 400ft reel if the film is supplied to us on the smaller reels.
Basic editing to remove sections of film that may not have exposed properly, such as the very beginning and end of each film that often displayed numbers or holes in the film. No other sections of film will be removed unless specifically requested.
Colour correction where possible for over or under exposed film to reveal as much of the original image information. The transfer is performed using a high quality Panasonic 3CCD chip camera to record all available colour information.
Conversion to DVD mpeg format and burning to disk to complete the transfer. Background music will be added at no extra cost. A simple menu system will be included to provide interactive control for playback on a standard DVD player or on your computer.
The finished DVD will be sent to you in a nicely packaged plastic case including simple yet tasteful artwork on the outer cover and on the face of the DVD. Once you have received your master copy, it can be reproduced many times without any loss in image quality.

Our main core business is providing quality projection equipment to allow people to perform their own film transfers. This can be very satisfying and offers complete control on editing and other image enhancing techniques that are available to anyone with a home computer. While we do encourage people to buy our conversion equipment, sometimes it just isn’t practical due to the costs involved in setting up and of course the learning curve in being able to produce an acceptable result. If you only have one or two films then it is impractical to do it yourself.

To achieve good results you will need to start with quality equipment such as a projector costing between $200~$300, a MiniDV camera at between $1000 and $5000 and a transfer device such as our Cine-Tranz for $185.00.
You will also need computer equipment, editing software and DVD authoring equipment and of course the technical skills which will take some time to master.

If you have a lot of film or you plan to create a small business, then the setup costs and effort can be well worth it.

The transfer service being offered is to help those that don’t want to go through the high setup cost and associated learning curve to convert just a few films. Using our service you will receive a quality result from someone who knows how to extract the very best from your original film.

The conversion equipment that we use has been developed by us after many years of trial and error in an effort to extract the maximum clarity and sharpness from the original film, at an affordable price. The Cine-TranzPRO system we designed incorporates a large 200mm lens and optical mirror that produces results comparable with professional frame scanning systems costing tens of thousands of dollars. Because our technology can transfer in real time rather than the extremely slow frame by frame method, we can complete the job in a fraction of the time which results in huge cost savings.

The two example images below are frames captured using our state-of-the-art transfer system. Image clarity and definition is of the very highest quality. Sample movies can be viewed by clicking the images below.

This is an example of 40 year old film that has been badly damaged by moisture and can no longer be restored. Your films should be converted to DVD before it is too late!

Don't forget, our service includes cleaning of the film, editing to remove bad sections of film and damaged splices. Film that already contains a sound track will have this converted during the transfer process, and background music is added at no extra cost. Many of these services are charged as extras by some transfer studios.
