Stabilizing is an advanced and sophisticated method of treating turquoise.  Turquoise is a naturally soft stone that will change colour with wear and time.  Clear colorless acrylics are injected into the stone to harden it and and also enhance the colour which it will retain with wear and time  ~ this piece is very unlike the plastic impersonations now being manufactured and sold as Copper Turquoise.
