QUILT TOP
"Sailor’s Joy" Pattern
Purchased from an Estate Auction in Petaluma, California.
This Geometrically Perfect Vintage Quilt Top is a Lovely example of Patchwork Piecing of the 1930's Era.
Beautifully HAND STITCHED throughout.
PATTERN -
The Quilt Top is called the Sailor’s Joy Pattern, a variation of the Eight Pointed star Category.
The Fabrics in each block have been laid out in a consistent pattern across the quilt, with a Soft Solid Pink used frequently.
Each Star Block is 9" / 22¾ cm Square across.
(See Barbara Brackman's Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns, Eight Pointed Star Blocks Chapter, page 454 - 455.)
OVERALL SIZE - 66" x 47" /167.5 x 119.5 cm
FABRIC - There are numerous Cotton and Feedsack Fabrics used in this quilt - all are 100% Cotton and very "typical" of the 1930's era.
CONDITION – EXCELLENT!
© The Fabrics are in great condition and have no mothball smell at all.
© The Colours are still true, although some of the creamy white pieces have age shades. These should wash out well, although I would recommend that you resist washing until the quilt top has been completed. (Just like any quilt, even if brand new!)
© The Quilt Top lays out well in the original shape and the pattern has been well-executed.
© All HAND Stitching is AS NEW, no visible seam separations.
This is a Beautiful Stunning Quilt Top which will be a Treasured Find for the Vintage quilt lover. The colours used are Wonderful!!!!
