- WELCOME -
For sale is a 4.2m (14ft) QUINTREX 'Trevally' Aluminium tinnie well fitted out for fishing.
The boat and trailer are registered - and in VGC
Almost everything you need to go fishing/boating in style
ABOUT THIS BOAT –
I bought the hull and trailer new in 2001 while living in the Northern Territory, with a plan to use it for Barra fishing. However I was so busy with work I only used it twice.
In 2003 I towed it to the Gold Coast and it remained in storage until last year when I fitted it out and put the current engine on it.
The photos show a red colour on the galvanised trailer and wheels, which looks like rust but it isn't. The trailer is a Dunbier, fully hot dipped galvanised with no rust whatsoever - the red colour is a stain from red NT dust. The photos are taken with flash and make it look more pronounced than it is.
I have now bought a sailing boat so this is reluctantly for sale.
THE MAIN FEATURES OF THE BOAT ARE -
- Aluminium floors, the centre is lower for better stability and headroom, the sides carry the fuel tank and eskys
- Side console with remote controls and anti-feedback steering
- Side pockets which provide dry storage and also stiffen the hull for a better ride in rough water
- Swivel seats which are moveable
- High full length railings with clear spray dodgers which eliminate 90% of spray and still allow good visibility
- High and re-inforced transom which reduces chances of swamping during bar crossings
- New custom-made bimini for shade and also folds forward for transport and when casting
- Extra strong bow roller, samson post and hawse hole which makes anchoring and retrieving the anchor a breeze
- Swim step on transom for easy and safe re-boarding
- Rod holders - one each side at the back
- There are no dents, cracks or damage on the hull as it has had very little use
- Has always been stored in a shed and so the bimini and clear dodgers have no sun damage and are in perfect condition
EQUIPMENT SUPPLIED WITH THE BOAT -
- VHF marine band transceiver and antenna which folds down for transport
- Echo sounder/fish finder
- Large compass fixed on console
- 12V battery recharged by the engine
- 30 ltr Aluminium fuel tank
- Quality 20 ltr polypropylene jerry can for extra fuel
- Livebait esky with bubbler
- Drinks esky
- Catch esky - see photos, eskys and fuel tank have tie-down straps/bungees
- Lifejackets - old but serviceable
- Several anchors for different conditions, rope and chain etc
THE MAIN ENGINE - is a fairly old Yamaha (at least it's a Yamaha!) 25hp. It was reconditioned by an outboard mechanic last year and runs perfectly. With two people and a moderate load it pushes the boat along at 19-20kts at 90% power which is quite economical.
Good features of the engine are -
- It's a Yamaha
- Has only run about 10 hrs since being reconditioned
- Has electric start and forward controls (ignition, choke, throttle, forward and reverse, safety cut-out)
- Has manual pull-starter in case of flat battery
- Always starts instantly and runs perfectly
- Spare parts are readily available
- Has always been flushed with fresh water after use
- Has 12V regulated lighting circuit to operate the boat's electrics and charge the battery
Bad features of the engine are -
- It does not have electric tilt/trim so in shallow water you have to tilt it manually and put a pin in
- The top tilt pin is missing so when trailering the boat I use a block of wood to support the leg
The low asking price of this sale reflects the age of the engine and so a budget conscious buyer might enjoy using the boat as it is for a season or two and perhaps later fit a more modern engine, I would suggest a 40hp.
THE TRAILER - is a Dunbier, hot dipped galvanised, no rust but has a reddish colour due to dust from the 'Red Centre'.
Features of the trailer are -
- The rollers and slippers are well set-up for very easy launch and retrieval of the boat
- The manual winch has a webbing strap and is simple to use, even on a steep boat ramp
- Guide rollers at the back of the trailer ensure central boat positioning - magic if there's a current or waves at the ramp!
- The main wheels are galvanised and the tyre treads look new - they have done about 7000km
- There is a new spare wheel and tyre mounted on the front of the trailer
- The jockey wheel is new and is the tilt type - no need to remove it when towing, just pull handle and rotate - see photos
- Wheel hubs have 'bearing buddy' self greasers to expel water and prevent bearings rusting.
- Tie-down straps and bow chain are included
- It tows really well, you don't even notice it's there until you look in the mirror.
