Attention: This is a service for revising/upgrading your existing 405, NOT an amplifier for sale.

The Quad 405 was one of the best amplifiers ever made.

Unfortunately after 20 years many components tend to dry out and the opamp-chips available then were not at all comparable to the quality of modern components. A revision/upgrade will make your Quad sound better than ever before:

  • The old opamp chip is replaced with Burr Brown OPA604 (a high-quality audio opamp), see http://www.uib.es/depart/dfs/GTE/staff/jfont/InstrETT/OPA604.pdf
  • All electrolytic capacitors (including in the power supply) are replaced by new ones as well as some critical diodes and resistors.
  • Internal B+, B-, and signal output wiring is replaced by thicker, high-end wires.
  • Inputs and outputs are replaced with audiophile connectors.
  • The amplifier will be fully tested for optimal performance with professional lab-equipment.
  • The amplifier can be adapted to your speakers and pre-amp, or changed to Monoblock, on demand.
6 months warranty on all new parts and labour.
