The Quad 50E was Quad's first solid-state amplifier, a professional mono Class B unit produced between 1966 and 1983, with professional features such as 600-ohm balanced input option, an input attenuator to handle any drive voltage, and a multi-tapped output transformer.

After 25-40 years many components tend to dry out and some components (like the PSU capacitor) available then were not at all comparable to the quality of modern components. A revision/upgrade will make your Quad 50E sound at least as good as new:

  • All electrolytic capacitors as well as some resistances, other caps, and potentiometers on the circuit-boards are replaced by new high quality ones.
  • All voltages and the residual bias current are exactly calibrated to their optimum value.
  • The amp is completely cleaned and all dust is removed (no luxury after 20+ years) with professional products.
  • The amp will be fully calibrated for optimal performance with professional lab equipment.
