QUEEN VICTORIA AGAVE

Agave victoria reginae

Native to Central America, the Queen Victoria Agave is adaptable to most soils and positions. It is drought tolerant but frost tolerance is noted in one reference source while another says leaf damage will occur below 5 degrees Celsius.

This plant is very variable and does not reach the full symmetry shown in the picture for many years. Offsets are few and far between and flowering does not occur until full maturity (approximately 30 years). The propagation of this agave, therefore, is by seed.

A very slow growing plant, it reaches a height and spread of only 0.2 metres. The leaves are dark green, short, thick and edged with white markings. They end in a hard, sharp point and form a tightly compressed rosette. Flowering occurs on a very tall spike in a terminal cluster.

Offered is a packet of 20 seeds with grow notes.
