RICHARD NAPOLEON (LEE) THORNTON 1852 SURREY

Original letter sent from Cannon Hill, Merton dated 1856 from Barrister signing Richard Thorton. He adopted this name in compliance with a condition contained in the will of Richard Thorton (his father) of whom he was the illegitimate son. Later this name change was confirmed by Royal Licence. 

Played for Surrey at the Oval 22 July 1852 v MCC and scored 1 run!

This letter has folds and is attached to a page by its 4 corners only and was removed from an album of other cricket material.

I always mail in new board back envelopes! Please be aware that due to the antiquarian and ephemeral nature of this item it will have folds, creases and other blemishes and will be folded along existing folds for postal purposes.
