Talent spoted as she stepped off the plane from Australia, Shirley Abicair was just 24 when she made her first records for Parlophone in the mid 1950's.

Playing her trademark Zither, Shirley hosted Childrens programmes and sang with a smile in her voice.

Her records were produced by George Martin in the Abbey Road studios..
